Hello Curren Media Group blog readers! My name is Sydney Sheets.
I can’t remember a time that I didn’t find joy in art and design. When I was a little girl, I could occupy myself for hours with some crayons and markers. I competed in every art show or program I could enter, and I’ve now followed my love of art and design all the way to James Madison University where I will be a junior in the graphic design program this upcoming fall.
I’m interning with Erik and Lindsay Curren to learn about their agency and how it works.
I’m not very familiar with the business side of anything, so I have set many goals for myself during this internship. I want to learn how their business works both on a large scale and on a day-to-day basis. I want to learn new skills with not only the software programs they use, but also with clients — like how to conduct initial interviews, understand what they want, and help them achieve their goals.
Blog about it!
I’ve also realized that blogging is essential to help a business grow.
Search engines love fresh content, and it allows you to show a personal side to your business. Blogging also allows you to connect with your site visitors. Every blog post creates an opportunity for your audience to learn more about your business — whether as a client or because the reader does the same kind of business and wants to learn from your expertise. And as this valuable content is shared with others, everyone benefits.
This is my first blog post ever, so please bear with me. Usually I just write school papers, not put myself out there for the whole Internet to see! I might be young, but I do have some experience and opinions that I’d love to share.
I’ll be blogging once a week from an editorial calendar I developed on issues in graphic design, client relations, and more so stay tuned for my Tuesday blogs this summer.
