Lindsay Curren, Creative Director

Lindsay Curren

I work with clients to discover the passion and meaning behind a vision, helping turn an idea into a mission. Then I help communicate that. Since I thrive on collaboration, I make the process fun! Behind this is a strategy designed for results.

I help take an idea from the seed stage to a fully blooming concept that’s ready for prime time. From there it’s all about whatever tools best serve mission-oriented marketing. I work with our web team to create and re-design websites, run social media campaigns, research, ghostwrite books and blogs, write and edit all manner of collateral literature, create e-blasts, design and art direct for materials, plan events, and monitor plans for measurable success.

My background is in the arts and communications. I earned a BFA in Dance and Choreography at Virginia Commonwealth University, where I also studied theatre and film. At school I served as the editor of VCU’s weekly 25k circulation student-run newspaper. Later I studied Sociology at UVA in the Community Scholar Program. Finding the most effective and engaging way to tell a story or make a case still makes me excited. And I have an old-school fetish for design using manual paste-up. Sure, I’ve evolved to the graphics software programs in use today, but my aesthetic remains a little…street-wise. To that end I head up the guerrilla marketing side of our design works; fliers, postcards, and other visual materials designed for street-level and viral impact. On bigger projects, I art direct, collaborating with other designers to realize a more technical vision.

For over twenty-five years I’ve worked in communications, writing and editing for Virginia papers and magazines, with three years as a dance columnist on the arts staff at The C-Ville Weekly in Charlottesville. From 2000-2006, I worked as an online discussion moderator and producer with washingtonpost.com, specializing in interactive news conversations. From the earliest stages of social media I’ve been in on the conversation, envisioning and implementing solutions to drive site interactivity and engage audiences to participate online. As an early advocate for breaking down the barriers to entry that allow audiences and customers to be co-creators with Websites, I’ve seen first hand the explosive growth in social media strategy that has evolved into the Web 2.0 we’re seeing today.

All this is how I have fun, and get work done. I’d love to hear your ideas, and see if I can help.
