A logo is how your business or company is recognized. It shows its values, principles, and even its personality. A logo verifies your identity.
You can’t have just any logo though. A poor logo can easily hurt the image of your company. But if you have a well thought out logo, you can communicate your company or product on the dot. Everything depends on the design.
When is it time to work on a new design?
1. It can’t adjust to modern media
If your logo looks great on the sign out front, but it can’t convert to your website or other social media sites, it’s time for a re-do.
Your logo will be on everything, so it needs to be flexible. Can it change in size and still be readable? Does it still look good in black and white?
2. It’s too complicated
Nowadays you see more and more simplified designs. Like I said in my last post, Two hot graphic design trends of 2015, textures and drop shadows are too overwhelming. They look dated and more importantly, you can’t use them through different media.
3. You did it yourself
Although you might know how to do some things on Illustrator, or you know a friend who does, that doesn’t mean you’re going to get a savvy design. DIY isn’t always the answer. It might be time for a professional to help. Graphic designers know what looks best in terms of layout and color theory, but they also know what works well for your kind of business and customers.
Invest as much time as needed, and whatever your budget can sustain, in developing a logo that not only looks great, but works effectively and powerfully for your brand. You’ll be rewarded with a better business reputation and better business prospects!
